SEO Tutorials: Learn SEO Properly

Well now one really knows for sure, however, I can tell you that you need the following factors to rank highly in any of the search engines. In today's SEO tutorial, I'm going to list out what you need to have on your sites and pages:

1. Links pointing to your sites and pages - the internet is pretty much a massive popularity contest, the more people pointing to your site about a particular topic, the more likely the search engines are going to let you rank highly for those terms. That is why if you have a lot of links to your site with a specific keyword as the anchor text, then you are going to do well for that keyword. But note that not all links are created equal. Links from related and themed sites within your niche are worth much more than links coming from random pages that have nothing related to your site. Having said that a link is better than no link at all.

Also, I just want to dispel the myth that if you get links from a bad neighbor you do not get penalized! Instead you just get no benefit from it. Otherwise, you're competition can simply get bad links pointing to you thus destroying your rankings!

The best links are links from "authority sites" or links from Google that have a high page rank. But in short, the more links you have the better! If the links have the anchor text within the link itself and is from a related site with a high page rank, then it's PERFECT! I hope you're learning a lot from this SEO tutorial!

2. Unique Content - Search engines are made for people. And people like variety. That is why if you have unique content (that is material on your website that is not seen on other sites) then you will do well on the search engines! Now, I want to dispel another myth in this SEO tutorial. There is no duplicate content PENALTY. What happens instead is that the search engines will FILTER OUT duplicate content and choose not to display them in the search results. The reason for this is, imagine you type in a keyword, you don't want to see 250,000 pages worth of the same stuff. You want unique material and content, that's why the search engines choose to filter out things that they deem to be duplicate content. So in order to do well on the search engines, you need to have information that no one else has. This applies to both on your own site, and pages with links pointing to your site.
